I had to climb a rock face to get into position for this photo. As I sat there in very strong winds, freezing and wondering why I had gone to all of this effort and trouble, a man climbed up behind me with a mountain bike strapped to his back. I like meeting new people in strange places.

I walked for 3 hours to get to this and 3 hours to get back to my car from this (up the side of the wharfdale valley from Ilkley). When I got there i realised that I could have got there by car and parked right next to it. I will use my map in future! I really enjoyed the walk though.

This picuture was taken near Malham Tarn.
A good friend, KGMarsch, came over for the weekend. We planned to get a good nights sleep so that we could be up for sunrise and ready to get some great pictures of a recent snowfall. Anyway, time past by and the next thing we knew it was 5am. We decided to stay up, prepare our kit and set off in time for the 6:30am sunrise. We drove and drove around the very ice, un-gritted, Yorkshire Dales looking for the perfect shot. From the car we saw the most amazing dawn come and go, but never stopped to take any pictures of it. We just never seemed to be in the right place. Always in search of the perfect composition! Eventually we pulled over and took some shots here.
